Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir received a couple of life-threatening mails from ‘ISIS Kashmir’ after paying tribute to Pahalgam terror-attack victims on social media. Following the brutal terror invasion in Kashmir that claimed 26 lives, Gambhir took to his X handle and raised his voice against the brutality. He also delivered a message to the attack’s perpetrators that they will pay a heavy cost for their deeds. “Praying for the families of the deceased. Those responsible for this will pay. India will strike. #Pahalgam,” wrote Gambhir on his X handle after the horrendous attack in Kashmir’s town. As per ANI, Gambhir’s office stated that they have lodged an official complaint to safeguard India head coach’s family security.
As per India Today sources, the 43-year-old received threats through mails, which included three words “I Kill You.’ "Former BJP MP and current head coach of the Indian cricket team, Gautam Gambhir, received a death threat from 'ISIS Kashmir'. On Wednesday, he approached the Delhi Police, filing a formal complaint for an FIR and seeking measures to safeguard his family's security," said Gambhir’s office. Back in 2021, Gambhir, as a BJP MP, received a threatening mail on social media.
Gautam Gambhir will look to help India prevail on England’s soil in the upcoming Test challenge
Gautam Gambhir is away from the limelight nowadays as Team India players are engaged in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. However, he will be expected to deliver effective results to the team’s supporters in the upcoming five-match Test series in England starting from June 20 in Yorkshire.
As head coach, he has failed to be impactful in red-ball cricket. Under him, India lost their first Test series on home soil after 12 years with a 3-0 whitewash against New Zealand in October 2024. Following the drubbing at the hands of the Kiwi side, the two-time World Test Championship runners-up got humiliated in Australia, where Rohit Sharma and his men faced a 1-3 defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 played from November 2024 to January 2025. It was Team India’s first Test series loss to Australia in 10 years.
