India are set to play the second Test of the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) series against Australia at the Adelaide Oval from December 6 onwards. With a 1-0 lead in the series, this will be the second time India will be taking on Australia in a day-night pink ball Test match at this venue, with the previous one ending on a sour note, a loss by eight wickets.
Before the advent of the day-night pink ball Test match at the Adelaide Oval, the pitches at this venue produced a lot of high-scoring games on a consistent basis, but it isn’t quite the case over the past nine years or so. Australia have been very dominant at the Adelaide Oval in the day-night pink ball Test match, winning seven out of their seven games since the first one was played in 2015 versus New Zealand.
India played against Australia in a Test match at the Adelaide Oval for the first-time way back in 1948, in which Sir Don Bradman was a part of the playing XI of the hosts. Over the years, Australia had an upper hand over India in the longest format of the game in home conditions, and it’s no different at the Adelaide Oval, and below is the record of their rivalry here.
