The Indian selection committee has announced the 17-member squad for Team India for the Asia Cup 2023, on August 21, Monday. KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer have made their return to the national colours, after recovering from their thigh and back injuries, respectively.

Rohit Sharma is going to captain the Indian team at the continental cricket tournament, which will be played in the ODI format this year in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Coincidentally, during the Asia Cup 2018, the last time this cricketing spectacle was held in the 50 overs format, he had led Team India to victory in the final in UAE, after the full-time captain Virat Kohli was given a rest.

Jasprit Bumrah, who is currently captaining India on the T20I tour of Ireland, following his return to international cricket after an 11 month injury layoff, has also got a place in the Asia Cup 2023 squad. His bowling compatriot Prasidh Krishna is picked among the 17-members headed for Sri Lanka, while Sanju Samson is the only travelling reserve for Team India in the tournament.

With that, SportsTiger looks at the probable XI of India at the Asia Cup 2023, before they take on Pakistan in their campaign opener on September 2, at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy.

Rohit Sharma is going to captain Team India at the Asia Cup 2023, with an eye on winning the trophy for the second time in the ODI format as the leader. As the opener of the national team, he is expected to provide a steady yet quick start in the powerplay, before making big scores consistently as the tournament goes on.
