After winning the first Test in a comprehensive manner, the Indian cricket team will be taking on Bangladesh in the second Test of the two-match series at the Green Park in Kanpur. India had defeated Bangladesh by 280 runs in the first Test at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, thanks to the player of the match performance from Ravichandran Ashwin with both bat and ball at his home ground while getting supported by the likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Jasprit Bumrah in particular.

With the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 heading into its business end, the Indian cricket team, who are on top of the standings, need to keep winning Test matches, to give themselves the best chance to make the final of the tournament next year. Meanwhile, Bangladesh, who are yet to defeat India in the Test format in the last 20 years or so, will be looking to drastically improve on their performance in Kanpur later this week.

The pitch at the Green Park is expected to assist the spinners, along with its traditional lower and slower nature, which would mean that the pacers won’t have a say in the proceedings in comparison to Chennai Test last week. It might help Bangladesh bridge the gap against the quality Indian side somewhat, but they might still find it very difficult to get the better of them in Kanpur.
