
India ended up winning six medals on the second day of the 2025 Asian Athletics Championship in Gumi, South Korea. The mixed relay team clinched the gold medal in the 4x400m event was a highlight of the day for India. Notably, this was the second consecutive gold for the mixed relay team as they also ended up being the champions last year.
India mixed relay team including Santhosh Kumar Tamilarasan, Rupal Chaudhary, Vishal Thennarasu Kayalvizhi and Subha Venkatesan defended their title within 3:18.20 seconds. On the other hand, China finished second with 3:20.52 second and bagged silver medal while Sri Lanka ended with winning the bronze for finishing the sprint in 3:21.95 seconds. This was India’s second gold in the ongoing championship with Gulveer SIngh ended up winning the 10000m sprint on day one of 2025 Asian Athletics Championship.
Tejaswin Shanka bags silver in decathlon event
Talking about India’s other achievements on the second day of Asian Athletics Championships, track and field athlete Tejaswin Shankar bagged a silver in the decathlon event. This turned out to be a great progress for the 26-year-old after winning the bronze medal in 2023. Apart from that, he also ended up winning the silver in the decathlon event in the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou.
Apart from that, sprinter Rupal Chaudhary also bagged a silver for India on day two in the women’s 400m event. The 20-year-old from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh finished the race in 52.68 seconds. However, she fell short against Japan’s Nanako Matsumoto who won the gold medal finishing in 52.17 seconds. Meanwhile Uzbekistan’s Jonbibi Hukmova finished third with 52.79 second and ended up winning the bronze.
Pooraj won another silver medal for India on the day as she finished second in the women’s 1500m finishing in 4:10.83. Meanwhile, Yoonus Shah won the bronze medal in the men’s 1500m, clocking 3:43.03 seconds.
