Preview:

Hyderabad and Mumbai both have had a disappointing second phase in the Indian T20 League in UAE. Hyderabad were the first team to be eliminated from the playoff race while the defending champions are on the brink of getting eliminated from the playoffs race. Both teams lock horns in the penultimate match of the cash-rich league at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi.

The two teams have already met once this season in April and at that time it was the Rohit Sharma-led side that emerged victorious in a close encounter. Mumbai had posted a challenging target of 150/5 thanks to Quinton de Kock's 40-run knock. While chasing the target set by Mumbai, Hyderabad were on top from the start. But a middle-order collapse turned the game on its head. Rahul Chahar and Trent Boult scalped 3 wickets each as Hyderabad stuttered in the death overs and fell 13 runs short.

Position in the Indian T20 League standings:

Mumbai: Current position: 5th (12 points in 13 matches)

Hyderabad: Current position: 8th (6 points in 13 matches)

Team News

Mumbai:

Krunal Pandya and Quinton de Kock were dropped in the last game with Ishan Kishan and James Neesham replacing them. The latter duo impressed and were the star performers of the match. Mumbai are expected to go with the same team.

Hyderabad:

Hyderabad pace sensation Umran Malik has impressed fans with his raw pace. They have a settled team at the moment and no changes are expected in their team.

Head to Head (in Indian T20 League)

Matches Played – 17

Mumbai – 9

Hyderabad – 8

Key Players

Rohit Sharma:

Rohit has looked in good touch but has been unable to stretch his innings long in the 2nd half of the tournament. He was dismissed at the wrong time against Rajasthan. The swashbuckling Indian opener has played numerable match-winning knocks for Mumbai in the previous editions of the Indian T20 League and he will be eager to inspire his team to victory against Hyderabad.

Jason Holder:

The West Indies all-rounder is at the top of his game with both bat and ball as he has scalped 12 wickets and scored 84 runs in 7 games this season. Coming in to bat at a crucial juncture of the game against RCB, Holder smashed 2 fours to take his team to a competitive total. Considering the nature of surface at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi, Holder’s all-round performance will again be crucial for Hyderabad.

Ishan Kishan:

The southpaw bounced back to form with quickfire half-century at an explosive strike rate of 200. He has always excelled at opening the innings and has scored tons of runs for Jharkhand and India A in the role. Kishan proved to be a more than capable replacement for Quinton de Kock and it will be interesting to see if he maintains his form against Hyderabad.
