Indian woman cricketer Veda Krishnamurthy got engaged to Karanataka cricketer Arjun Hoysala. The 32-year-old Karnataka lad shared a picture with Veda on his Instagram account and revealed that the woman cricketer nodded in yes to his proposal.
In the picture, Arjun can be seen bending on his knees and proposing to the Indian women cricketer and his longtime girlfriend Veda. While Veda has been an integral part of the Indian women's cricket team, Arjun is a professional trainer and also plays cricket for his state.
Arjun has featured in the state T20 tournaments including the Karnataka Premier League, having represented Shivamogga Lions in the 2019 Karnataka Premier League and has been a consistent run scorer at the top order. The left-handed batter made his first-class debut for Karnataka in 2016 but his FC stint didn't go as he would have liked.
Meanwhile, the 29-year-old woman cricketer made her international debut at the young age of 18 and has played 48 ODIs and 76 T20Is for her country. She also bowls leg spin which brought her three international wickets. Krishnamurthy has ten half-centuries in international cricket with the highest score of 71 and last played an international game in 2020 against Australia women in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup.
Veda is currently not part of the squad due to the inclusion of a couple of young prodigies in the white ball setup. Speaking of the Indian women's cricket team, Harmanpreet Kaur-led side was shocked by hosts England in the first T20 international as the Three Lions beat India by 9 wickets. While batting first, India posted 132/7 in the first innings which saw below-par performances from the Indian women batters.
In response, Sophia Dunkley batted brilliantly as she remained unbeaten in the game to score 61 off 44 deliveries and helped her side to seal a comprehensive win in the series opener. Both the teams will engage in two more T20 internationals followed by three-match ODI series.
