On Monday, November 6, the International Hockey Federation (FIH) announced the pools for the men’s and women’s qualification tournaments for the Olympics next year after the conclusion of the Pan American Games and the African Hockey Road to Paris 2024 events. Indian women’s hockey team, who have won the Asian Champions Trophy a day prior, are drawn with Germany in the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers 2024, with their pool matches set to be played in Ranchi from January 13 to 19 next year.

In addition to the hosts France, the five men’s and women’s teams have directly qualified to Paris 2024 as Continental Champions in their respective 12 team competition. The men’s draw at the Olympics will have France, India, Argentina, Australia, Netherlands, and South Africa, while the women’s draw at the Olympics will have France, China, Argentina, Australia, Netherlands, and South Africa.

To determine the remaining six teams in the men’s and women’s competition respectively for Paris 2024, the FIH are going to organise two separate tournaments. The FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers 2024 tournament on the men’s side will be played in Muscat and Valencia, while the one on the women’s side will be played in Ranchi and Valencia.

Here are the pools for the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers 2024:

Men’s Tournament

Pool A: Belgium, Spain, Republic of Korea, Ireland, Japan, Austria, Egypt and Ukraine (To be played in Valencia from January 13 to 21)

Pool B: Great Britain, Germany, New Zealand, Malaysia, Pakistan, Canada, Chile and China (To be played in Muscat from January 15 to 21)

Women’s Tournament

Pool A: Belgium, Great Britain, Spain, Korea, Ireland, Canada, Malaysia and Ukraine (To be played in Valencia from January 13 to 21)

Pool B: Germany, India, New Zealand, Japan, Chile, the United States, Italy and the Czech Republic (To be played in Ranchi from January 13 to 19)
