After the conclusion of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, the action will shift towards the England series, which is set to commence from June 20. However, the series carries much importance not only for the Indian team, but it will also commence the new World Test Championship (WTC) cycle, running until 2027.

With close to a month remaining for the start of the series, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is still pondering on the squad selection. Amidst this, recent reports have revealed that the squad for the highly-anticipated series is set to be announced in the coming weekend as the BCCI members are set to meet on Saturday.

BCCI to announce Team India squad for England tour on May 24: Reports

As per reports citing India Today, the BCCI selection meeting is scheduled on Saturday, May 24 with a press conference also expected. If reports are to be believed, the announcement is likely to be made around 12 pm. While they will announce the Indian squad, a new Test skipper is also set to be announced on the same day after Rohit Sharma put down curtains to his Test career, earlier this month.

With Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli out of the longest format, Jasprit Bumrah, Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant have been named as the potential candidates to take over the captaincy reins. However, several reports have added that Bumrah have decided to step away from the race, leaving it on Gill and Pant as the front-runners.
