The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) on Monday, July 7 revealed squads for the upcoming Asian Championships, which will be played in Shymkent, Kazakhstan from August 16 to 30, thus confirming the return of many players. Moreover, the senior squad for the ISSF World Cup (Rifle/Pistol), which will be held in Ningbo, China from September 7 to 15 has also been announced. It will feature the likes of Olympic bronze medallist Swapnil Kusale and former Asian Games champion and Olympian Rahi Sarnobat.

The headline of this event will be double Olympic-medallist from 2024 Paris Olympic Games, Manu Bhaker. Manu was the lone shooter to make the cut for two individual events. According to the announcement by the PTI, she will compete in the women’s 10m air pistol and women’s 25m pistol events. Prominent names who have made a comeback to the senior squad include former men’s air rifle world champion Rudrankksh Patil and Olympians Anjum Moudgil (women’s 50m rifle 3 positions), Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar (men’s 50m rifle 3 positions), Saurabh Chaudhary (men’s 10m air pistol) and Kynan Chenai (men’s trap).

Junior Asian Championships to coincide with the senior event

The NRAI also named the squads for the ISSF Junior World Cup, set to be held in India in September-October. Along with this, squads for the Junior Asian Championships were also announced, seeing the inclusion of Esha Singh (25m pistol), Mehuli Ghosh (air rifle) and Kiran Ankush Jadhav (air rifle) - in both the squads.

Olympian Raiza Dhillon is the only difference in the two 36-member squads announced by NRAI. She makes in the Delhi World Cup junior women’s skeet team in place of Mansi Raghuvashi, who is in the junior ASC team.
