Much to the delight of Indian cricket fans, leading multiplex chain INOX Leisure Ltd has partnered with International Cricket Council (ICC) for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022. INOX will live screen all the matches played by India at the biennial event starting with the mega clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan. The multiplex chain has signed an agreement with ICC in this regard, it confirmed in a statement on Tuesday (11 October). 

INOX will showcase all group matches to be played by Team India as well as the two semifinals and the final. The matches will be screened across INOX multiplexes in more than 25 cities. 

"The live matches will be screened across INOX multiplexes in more than 25 cities," INOX said in its statement. "By screening cricket in cinemas, we are bringing together the thrill of the giant screen experience and thunderous sound with the most loved sport in our country, that is cricket. The excitement and emotions of the World Cup would add to this combination, resulting into a virtual treat for cricket lovers,” said INOX Leisure Chief Operating Officer Anand Vishal. 

Notably, the eighth edition of the T20 World Cup will take place in Australia with as many as 20 teams taking part in the showpiece event. India, who are currently the no.1 team in T20 internationals have been put in Group 2 of Super 12s, alongside Pakistan, Bangladesh, and South Africa. The Men in Blue will open their campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on 23 October at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. 

INOX operates in 74 cities with 165 multiplexes, 705 screens and has a total seating capacity of 1.57 lakh seats across India. Earlier this year in March, INOX Leisure and PVR had announced a merger to create the country's largest multiplex chain.
