Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq is expected to become the new chief selector of the national side according to reports on August 5. The sources closely associated with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revealed that the 53-year-old has agreed to become the chief selector after a three-year stint from 2016 to 2019.

The leading run-scorer in the history of ODI cricket for Pakistan could take over the new post, while the director and head coach of Pakistan, Mickey Arthur and Grant Bradburn, respectively, are yet to learn about their fate in the national selection committee. During his prior tenure, Inzaman-ul-Haq had worked with the South African, then head coach of the Pakistan cricket team at that particular time, taking them to ICC Champions Trophy glory in 2017.

A source revealed the development regarding Arthur and Bradburn to the Press Trust of India (PTI). He was quoted as saying, “The Cricket Technical Committee members including Misbah-ul-Haq, Inzamam-ul-Haq, and Mohammad Hafeez have been discussing the new selection committee and it is yet to be decided whether Arthur and Bradburn should remain members on it.” 

Furthermore, the source revealed that Misbah-ul-Haq will make the recommendation about the matter to PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf, after holding talks about whether the new experiment of director and head coach on the selection panel is helping the Pakistan cricket team. He said, “Once Babar's views are taken, the Cricket Technical Committee will also finalise its recommendation for the Chairman.”

On the other hand, Mickey Arthur is currently coaching Derbyshire is expected to join the Pakistan cricket team at some stage of the Asia Cup this year, to provide his services as the director as the ODI World Cup 2023 draws closer.
