India and Pakistan are mad about cricket- to say the least. Both countries literally worship their players and the game is nothing less than a religion for them. With two neighbouring countries so much passionate about one game, comparisons are inevitable. It has been more than four decades of both teams playing cricket and thus there have been different generations of cricketers from the two countries.
While fans tend to avoid comparisons between two different generation players, there are often comparisons between players who played in the same decade. Rahul Dravid and Inzamam-ul-Haq played for India and Pakistan respectively around the same time and hence a comparison between the two. While Inzamam was considered the best Test player of his time, Rahul Dravid was called ‘The Wall’ of India.
But who was better among these two? This question can lead to a long debate but former Pakistan pacer Wahab Riaz has no doubts about who was better. Riaz has put his countryman above his Indian counterpart, saying Inzamam-ul-Haq was way ahead of Dravid.
"Inzamam-ul-Haq was always a better player than Rahul Dravid. Inzamam bhai was an all-format player and he had a lot of time to play his shots even against the pacers. He was way ahead of Dravid," Wahab Riaz said on a Pakistani chat show, the video of which was posted on a YouTube channel named Cric Bridge.
Meanwhile, Indian fans were quick to give Riaz a reality check as they shared statistics of both players. “@WahabViki must look at the stats first. He has more test average than Inzi and both have almost equal ODI average and Dravid has 2 more ODI centuries playing lesser matches than Inzi,” wrote one user.
