12:26 PM IST: Rohit Sharma set to make comeback against Kolkata Knight Riders

Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardene has confirmed that captain Rohit Sharma will be back for the KKR clash.

"Rohit was batting and doing his running as well, but after coming back from the United Kingdom we felt that he needed an extra few days so he should be fine to play the next game," Jayawardene told reporters on Sunday.

Meanwhile, CSK's Dwayne Bravo is likely to miss the Mumbai Indians match due to injury. In a big boost to the team though, Faf du Plessis is reportedly fit to play the match.

12:12 PM IST: Fully vaccinated certificate mandatory for fans in stadiums

It is being reported that fans at stadiums do not need to get RT-PCR Tests but will need to give evidence of being fully vaccinated. The matches will be played across three stadiums in UAE- Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.

September 19, 2021: The D-day is here. IPL about to resume in a few hours

06:49 PM IST: Kulwant Khejroliya joins Delhi Capitals as Siddharth Manimaran's replacement

Big news coming in. He was already a part of the DC bio-bubble as a net bowler. Left-arm orthodox Siddharth has reportedly been ruled out of IPL 2021 due to an injury that has prompted the inclusion of left-arm pacer Khejroliya in the team. He has taken 17 wickets in 15 T20 matches at an average of 23.29. The 29-year-old bowler has represented Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL 2018 and IPL 2019 seasons, where he picked 3 wickets in 5 matches.

Meanwhile, Siddharth, who has sustained a quadriceps strain while training, is undergoing rehabilitation in Dubai. However, he will return to India after a few days where he will have to continue his treatment.

06:05 PM IST: David Warner out of quarantine

Meanwhile, David Warner has completed his quarantine and is out to train with the rest of his teammates.

05:50 PM IST: Latest update of players joining teams

The abovementioned players, all from South Africa, have joined their respective sides but will be available for selection only after completing their mandatory quarantine.

05:36 PM IST: Mujeeb ur Rahman yet to join SRH due to Visa issues, claim reports

A report by ANI confirms that Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb ur Rahman hasn't yet joined his franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad due to Visa issues. There is no certain date as to when he would be able to join the squad.

05:30 PM IST: RCB's Wanindu Hasaranga & Dushmantha Chameera land in UAE

RCB's new inclusions Sri Lanka's Wanindu Hasaranga and Dushmantha Chameera have landed in UAE ahead of the season resumption.

05:25 PM IST: Sam Curran lands in UAE but is all set to miss opening tie vs Mumbai Indians

This is because of the six-day mandatory quarantine rule which will see Curran quarantine till at least September 20. Thus, he will not be available for CSK's first game of the second half against Mumbai Indians.

05:20 PM IST: Fans set to be back in stadium after 89 matches

Huge news. First match since IPL 2019 final which will see fans in the stadium will be the MI-CSK match on September 19. Interestingly, the last was also between the same two teams which MI had won by 1 run to lift the ir fourth title. As many as 89 IPL matches have been played in between with no crowds.

While it was more or less known, given that it was going to be a bubble to bubble transfer, a BCCI official has confirmed the same in an Inside Sport report.

September 14, 2021: 11:30 AM IST: RCB to wear Blue Jersey vs KKR on September 20

The gesture will be a tribute to the services of the frontline warriors during the COVID-19 pandemic.

While Rohit Sharma along with other Mumbai Indians teammates had already landed in UAE yesterday, Kohli and Siraj have landed in Dubai on Sunday. They will have to undergo mandatory 6 days quarantine before they can train with the team.

Ahead of second phase of IPL 2021, there is some good news for Kolkata Knight Riders as Sunil Narine finishes with figures of 2/17 in 4 overs in first match of CPL 2021 for Trinbago Knight Riders. The mystery spinner looked in good rhythm and constantly troubled the opposition batsmen with his bowling.

The news going around in social media is that Rajasthan Royals have reportedly signed Sri Lanka all-rounder Thisara Perera for the second phase of IPL 2021. However, we can now confirm that it was fake news and there has been no official deal as such.

11:05 PM IST: Ben Stokes also likely to pull out of IPL 2021

After Jos Buttler pulled out of second phase of IPL 2021, there are reports which states that RR all-rounder Ben Stokes is also likely to withdraw his name for remainder of the season.

Notably, the 30-year-old had suffered a finger injury while playing for RR in first phase of IPL 2021 in India. Although he made his return on the field after a surgery, Stokes had pulled put of the ongoing Test series against Virat Kohli's side citing mental health issues.

9:00 PM IST: Hazlewood will be a great addition to CSK: KS Viswanathan

CSK CEO KS Viswanathan is delighted to have Josh Hazlewood back in the side for second half of IPL 2021. Reflecting on the same, he said, "BCCI has confirmed that players who were not available in the first phase can join the respective teams in the second phase if they are fit and available. Considering Hazlewood’s form, he will be a great addition to our team.”

Notably, Josh Hazlewood had pulled out of IPL 2021 in India and Jason Behrendroff had been announced as his replacement. With Hazlewood joining the side, CSK will have to release Behrendorff as a result.

8:05 PM IST: It's official - Phillips is new RR player

8:00 PM IST: Jos Buttler pulls out of UAE-leg

"Jos Buttler will not be part of the remainder of #IPL2021, as he and Louise are expecting a second child soon. We wish them well, and can't wait for the newest member of the #RoyalsFamily," Rajasthan Royals said in their statement on Twitter. 

Interestingly, RR posted a cheeky and cryptic tweet which more or less confirms that they have signed Kiwi player Glenn Phillips as Buttler's replacement. However, we might have to wait for an official confirmation regarding the same.

6:25 PM IST: CSK started the day with some football

4:45 PM IST: Mike Hesson will be RCB's coach 

After Simon Katich stepped down as coach of RCB due to personal reasons, the franchise has appointed Mike Hesson (who was the director of cricket operations) as the new coach for remainder of IPL 2021.

After the appointment, the Kiwi tweeted on Saturday, "Exciting 2nd half of the #IPL2021 it’s getting closer…..Looking forward to getting to UAE and continuing all the quality work that Simon and the @RCBTweets coaching team have put in with this talented playing group."

4:30 PM IST: RCB reveal their travel plans

After announcing their three new signings, Royal Challengers Bangalore have also revealed their travel plans for second phase of IPL 2021. The players will be assembling in Bengaluru today and they will leave for UAE on August 29, Sunday.

4:00 PM IST: Delhi Capitals have left for UAE

August 21, 2021: Some big news coming in from the RCB camp. Wanindu Hasaranga has joined the squad as a replacement for Adam Zampa. Moreover, Dushmantha Chameera and Tim David have been roped in as replacements for Daniel Sams and Finn Allen respectively.

In yet another big news, head coach Simon Katich has decided to step down from the position citing personal reasons and consequently, Mike Hesson, the Director of Cricket Operations at RCB, will step in for the coaching duties for the remainder of the season.

05:20 PM IST:  Meanwhile, the Sunrisers Hyderabad are set to leave for Dubai on September 1 to begin preparations for second phase of the tournament. It was a disappointing first half for them and they are placed at the bottom of the table with just a solitary win in seven matches.

August 20, 11:03 AM IST: A month to for the season resumption. CSK did begin their training as was reported yesterday and MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina were spotted at the nets for the first time before the tournament resumption. They will have a good few days to get into competition mode having not played any cricket since May.

04:05 PM IST: CSK is set to start training at ICC Academy, Dubai from Thursday. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians will begin their training at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi from Friday.

12:05 PM IST: Delhi Capitals will leave for UAE on Saturday. While Shreyas Iyer is already in the Middle East nation with his fitness coach, others will continue to join the squad after finishing their respective international commitments. It is being reported that the team will leave Delhi with their domestic players who are already placed in quarantine in the Indian capital.

Meanwhile, there is no final call on the captaincy yet. The owners will choose between Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant later.

11:26 AM IST: KKR’s Varun Chakravarthy and Kamlesh Nagarkoti will need to clear the mandatory fitness test at NCA before flying to UAE. However, in some respite, opener Shubman Gill has reportedly recovered from his shin pain and should be match-fit in time to play for their season resumption against RCB on September 20.

August 19. 10:40 AM IST: The big update this morning is that the IPL franchises find themselves in a spot of bother. This after the BCCI has set August 20 as the deadline for final squad submission. However, there is still uncertainty over the participation of some players.

"We have to submit the squad by August 20 but I can’t confirm whether all foreign players will be available. We are still in talks with some players. The good thing is that the T20 World Cup will be held in UAE and that gives us confidence that all players will be available but we are still waiting on some players’ final confirmation," a franchise official was quoted as saying in an Inside Sport report.

12:15 PM IST: BCCI is also "hopeful" of having the crowd back in the stadium for the remainder of IPL. That will be huge! The big positive is that a significant part of the UAE population has been vaccinated which can prompt the government to think in that area.

11:04 AM IST: The big news coming in this morning is that IPL 2021 is the last with 8 teams. The same has been confirmed by the BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal. The board is working hard to make sure that the next season is a 10-team affair.

10:59 AM IST: Meanwhile, the franchises which had moved to UAE will be looking to complete their mandatory quarantine and start their training ahead of season resumption.

01:50 PM IST: The Australian players were earlier confirmed to be participating in the UAE leg of IPL 2021 and now Steve Smith has also corroborated the same.

August 17, 12:33 PM IST: The recent update surrounding the IPL is that Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi are set to be available for the remainder of the IPL 2021. Questions were being asked regarding their participation owing to the state of affairs in Afghanistan. However, the Sunrirsers Hyderabad have announced that the Afghans will be available.
