Avesh Khan was the star with the ball for Lucknow Super Giants as the side registered a narrow 12-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday. Batting first, LSG posted a competitive 169 on board, courtesy of half-centuries from skipper KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda. Rahul was the top scorer for Lucknow with 68 runs off 50 balls while Hooda was more aggressive in his 51-run knock. For Hyderabad, T Natarajan, Washington Sundar and Romario Shepherd took 2 wickets each.
In reply, SRH only managed to score 157 in their quota of 20 overs. Avesh Khan played a key role as he returned with four wickets. Sunrisers failed to chase 16 runs in the final over as Jason Holder took three wickets for LSG in the last over of the match. Rahul Tripathi played a good knock of 44 runs to stabilize the SRH innings after Kane Williamson and Abhishek Sharma were dismissed cheaply. Tripathi's 30-ball stay consisted of a six and five fours. Nicholas Pooran looked in fine touch as he played some brilliant shots but Avesh Khan got rid of Nicholas Pooran and Abdul Samad in successive deliveries in the 18th over, dealing a huge blow to SRH hopes.
