Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have a troublesome bowling attack and the same reflected in their opening fixture at IPL 2023. Despite posting a good total on the board, CSK lost the match by five runs. Their best bowler on the day, Rajvardhan Hangargekar (3/36) leaked runs at 9 runs per over. Deepak Chahar was a bit economical but could not take any wickets. Ravindra Jadeja scalped one wicket but that did not create much of a difference. So, that is the area CSK will look to improve.
Talking about the positives, Ruturaj Gaikwad (92 off 50) stole the show with the bat in hand. The opening batter scored more than 50% of the team’s total. Moeen Ali (23), Shivam Dube (19), and MS Dhoni (14*) were other contributors with the bat.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) made their debut last year and impressed everyone straightaway. The Lucknow-based team made it to the playoffs under KL Rahul and Gautam Gambhir. However, they faltered in the Eliminator against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Nevertheless, LSG did a good job and thus, will have expectations to fulfil at IPL 2023. The team has made key changes to its squad.
Nicholas Pooran was roped in for a whopping price of 16 crores. The West Indies captain is expected to play a key role in the middle order. Kyle Mayers will also be an important player for LSG with his all-round skills. In the bowling department, Avesh Khan and Mark Wood will lead the pace contingent.
