Chennai Super defeated Mumbai Indians by six wickets to ensure they went ahead to second place in the IPL 2023 points table with the help of a brilliant bowling effort from their bowlers, especially Matheesha Pathirana was the key player for his side's victory, who ended up with bowling figures of 3/15 in four overs. Deepak Chahar and Tushar Deshpande picked two wickets each to their names and restricted Mumbai to an average total of 139/8 in 20 overs.
CSK chased down 140 runs with the help of a fiery start provided by Ruturaj Gaikwad in the powerplay and solid batting from Devon Conway at the other end. Shivam Dube smashed three big sixes in the middle overs, and skipper MS Dhoni scored the winning run for his side. Among Mumbai bowlers, only Piyush Chawla looked impressive with a brilliant figure of 2/25 in 4 overs.
