David Miller redeems himself with match-winning finish as Delhi Capitals bounce back in style
The Delhi Capitals were having a bit of a rough patch as they lost two consecutive games after a strong start to the season. The game against the Gujarat Titans was a really tough pill to swallow as David Miller had the opportunity to draw the game but he turned down the single. He then ended up missing the last ball and the Capitals lost the game by just 1 run. The Delhi Capitals lost the game against the Chennai Super Kings and there was a one week break before the clash against RCB.
Against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, they produced a brilliant display of bowling by limiting the home side to just 175 runs. The Delhi Capitals were off to a shaky start in the beginning as Bhuvneshwar Kumar dominated proceedings with the new ball. He picked up the wickets of Pathum Nissanka, Karun Nair and Sameer Rizvi in the power play. Then KL Rahul steadied the ship with a solid half-century and Tristan Stubbs gave the required support. After the dismissal of KL Rahul, it was up to David Miller and Tristan Stubbs to finish the game.
David Miller was struggling initially as he couldn’t get off the mark very easily. The RCB bowlers did a brilliant job as well to keep the game tight. With a total of just 175, they managed to strangle the Delhi Capitals till the very end, David Miller was desperate to get the ball off to the fence in the final over. He found his touch with a splendid six off the 3rd ball of the over. Then he smashed a six off the next delivery as well and that sealed the game for the Capitals. With a four of the last ball of the innings, the Delhi Capitals secured their win by 6 wickets.
The South African batter was subject to heavy criticism for his decision making against the Gujarat Titans. He has silenced his critics with a power packed finish against the home side. David Miller will be looking forward to finish many more matches for the Delhi Capitals.
