The sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) gets underway on 31 March at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans (GT) will take on MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the opening fixture of IPL 2023. While Gujarat were crowned as the champions last season, CSK finished in the ninth position. Now, as the four-time champions have made some crucial changes to their squad, CSK are expected to put on a better show. GT, meanwhile, will look to pick up from where they left off last season.
1. Toss Prediction
As this is the first game of the season, the coin might fall in anyone’s favour. However, MS Dhoni has a better record at tosses as compared to Hardik Pandya, so he might get it right yet again on Friday.
2. Win Possibility
Gujarat Titans are clear favourites to win the opening fixture of IPL 2023. As GT will be playing at their home, it will be difficult for CSK to topple them. Also, the Hardik Pandya-led side looks more settled as compared to CSK and hence GT are expected to win the game.
3. Powerplay Score and First Inning Score
The pitch at Narendra Modi Stadium is not the best one to bat but it is also not the worst. Fast bowlers get some purchases early in the innings and hence scoring boundaries is not an easy task here. So, the powerplay score is expected to be around 40-45 while the first-inning total can be somewhere around 160-170.
