LSG defeated KKR by one run and ensured their spot in the IPL playoffs for the second time consecutively. LSG batting first posted 176/8 in 20 overs despite struggling at 73/5 in one stage with the help of a stunning fifty from Nicholas Pooran. Sunil Narine and Vaibhav Arora were brilliant with the ball by picking two wickets, but Varun Chakravarthy was a little expensive in this game.

KKR started their run-chase brilliantly by scoring 61 runs in the powerplay, but other batters crumbled under pressure except for Rinku Singh, who gave hope to all Kolkata fans. KKR needed 54 to win in the last four overs, and from that situation, Rinku Singh brought the run-chase with needing 18 to win off the last three balls, and Rinku Singh smashed the last three balls for six, four, and six to salvage some pride for KKR.
