The IPL 2024 action moved to the world’s largest cricket stadium in Ahmedabad for the 12th clash, where Gujarat Titans hosted SunRisers Hyderabad on March 31, Sunday. Both SunRisers and Titans came into the match on the back of one win and one loss each. In Sunday’s clash, Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins won the toss and invited the rivals to field first. The hosts seemed to be dominating with their bowling prowess as they showcased their magic in the initial overs of the SRH innings.
Openers Mayank Agarwal and Travis Head failed to put on a decent show and walked back to the hut within 20-run marks, respectively. Abhishek Sharma played a comparatively better knock, but just when he was on the verge of setting himself on the case, Mohit Sharma’s delivery forced him to return at 29 runs off 20 balls.
Unfortunately, SRH’s middle batting order failed to come up with a powerful knock, and the guests set an average target of 163 runs for their counterparts to chase. Gujarat veteran Mohit Sharma proved to be lethal for the rival batting unit and scalped a total of three wickets for the 2022 winners.
Later, Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha started GT’s innings on a decent note, and while the skipper contributed 36 runs, Saha put a total of 25 runs off 13 deliveries. GT’s innings were further solidified by Sai Sudarshan’s significant 45 runs off 36 deliveries, combined with four deliveries and one maximum. After a below-par batting performance, Hyderabad lost their chances to make a comeback with their bowling prowess.
Vijay Shankar and David Miller did the final touchup for the guests and sealed the deal with a seven-wicket win.
