In match 63 of IPL 2024 , the Gujarat Titans (GT) were scheduled to host Kolkata Knight Riders at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Monday, May 13. Although both teams are coming off a win from their respective last matches, but the clash turns out to be a must-win game for the Shubman Gill-led side.
But as expected, the match was delayed due to bad weather conditions and rain in the western state of Indian subcontinent. Just hours ahead of the all-important match, rain started to pour in. However, it stopped several times, but lightning and other reasons prevented to kickstart.
What will happen if GT vs KKR is washed out?
But with persistent rain in Ahmedabad, there remains less chances of the match being played. If that happens, both teams will get a point each. Moreover, earning one point won’t help GT to reach till 14 points. This outcome will force Gujarat to become the third team to get knocked out of the IPL 2024, only after Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings.
On the contrary, Kolkata Knight Riders are comfortably sitting at the first place in the standings. The Shreyas Iyer-led side became the first team to confirm the playoffs berth. Additionally, while it turns out to be bad for GT, this might add on to as a great news for teams including SunRisers Hyderabad, Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Lucknow Super Giants and Delhi Capitals.
