The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 was suspended for one week on Friday, May 9, following cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan in the aftermath of the Operation Sindoor launched by the Indian Army against terrorists in response to the Pahalgam attack. With three days already gone, it is understood that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will take the final call in regards to potentially announcing the revised schedule of the IPL 2025 in the next couple of days, with an aim to resume it on Friday, May 16.

Notably, just a day before the IPL 2025 was put on hold for a week, the match 58th of the tournament between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) was called off due to a significant technical failure. But later on, it was revealed that the decision was made to abandon the contest after there was a potential of an aerial threat on the city of Dharamshala and the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium, which is around 100 km from the international border to its west.

No home matches of PBKS expected in Dharamshala in IPL 2025 revised schedule

It was recently stated in reports that the PBKS versus DC will be replayed once the IPL 2025 season resumes, but now, it is highly likely that these teams will share points, as understood by SportsTiger. With just 16 matches remaining in the tournament, including three playoff matches and the final, the BCCI is looking to complete the tournament at the earliest, preferably in the next couple of weeks or so, pending the approval of the Indian government.

There is a ceasefire being put in place by India and Pakistan after a mutual understanding on the cross-border conflict a couple of days ago, which is a good sign for the IPL 2025 in regards to its potential resumption. The revised schedule of the tournament is expected to have no matches being hosted in Dharamshala, the home ground of PBKS, while the rest of the teams could play their remaining league stage matches on the home and away basis.

Known as one of the biggest franchise T20 tournaments in the world, the IPL has been a focal point of the sport since its inception in 2008 and it is expected to be this way for quite some time.
