The IPL 2023 mini auction has shattered the records for the most expensive bids in the history of the cash-rich league as the 10 franchises went all-out to produce the title winning squads. Among the South African players, wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen received the highest bid in the auction for the IPL 2023.

During the first pick, the 31-ye ar-old Klaasen was the only South African player to get sold as SunRisers Hyderabad bought the batter for INR 5.25 Crore. Klaasen has played seven IPL matches for Rajasthan Royals in 2018 and Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2019. In the 2018 season, the Titans wicketkeeper scored 57 runs with an average of 19 while his numbers dwindled in the 2019 season.


In the mini-auction, South African cricketer Duan Jager was sold to Mumbai Indians for INR 20 lakh while Rajasthan Royals bought  Donovan Ferreira for INR 50 lakh.  On the other hand, players like Wayne Parnell, Rassie van der Dussen, Rilee Rossouw, Tabraiz Shamsi and Corbin Bosch remained unsold in the first pick.

However, batsman Rilee Rossouw was sold for INR 4.60 Crore to Delhi Capitals to play in the IPL for the first time since 2015 while players like  Rassie van der Dussen and Wayne Parnell went unsold in the auction.
