List of players to win IPL emerging player of the season award

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is known for bringing the star players from India and overseas to make a thrilling contest. Not only this, the IPL also provides a stage for the local cricketers from different parts of India to showcase their talent at a big level and get a chance to play and share the dressing room with some of the best cricketers in the world.

There are several young cricketers whose careers reached new heights with the help of IPL. One good IPL season and these players become a hot topic among the cricketing experts and it also opens the door for them to get a chance in their national team. At the end of the season, those players also end up winning the IPL emerging player of the season award.

IPL Emerging Players

There are several players who went on to win the IPL player of the season award throughout the last 17 editions of the tournament. Current Indian captain Rohit Sharma, who led Mumbai Indians to five IPL titles and also led India to one T20 World Cup and one Champions Trophy title won the emerging player of the season award while playing for Deccan Chargers in 2009.

Apart from that, the current players of the Indian team including the likes of Sanju Samson (2013), Axar Patel (2014), Shreyas Iyer (2015), Rishabh Pant (2018), Shubman Gill (2019), Yashasvi Jaiswal (2023) and Nitish Kumar Reddy have also won the emerging player award in the IPL season. These players are currently the main members of the Indian team.

Sanju Samson is currently the captain of Rajasthan Royals and also finished as the leading run getter for India in the T20Is in 2024. Axar Patel played a crucial part in India’s triumph in the 2024 T20 World Cup and 2025 Champions Trophy. Shreyas Iyer also has a great outing with the bat in the 2023 ODI World Cup and finished as the leading run getter for India in the 2025 Champions Trophy.

Rishabh Pant has became a main member of the Indian team especially in the Test format and has a good record overseas, while Shubman Gill is currently the vice-captain of India in the ODI format. Yashasvi Jaiswal has also cemented his place in the Test side due to his consistent performance.
