The Indian wicketkeeper-batter, Ishan Kishan, who got sidelined from the BCCI central contract in the aftermath of opting out of Ranji Trophy last season, has made himself available to play for Jharkhand in domestic cricket later this year. Once the 26-year-old represents his state, he could reportedly be in the reckoning to play for the Indian cricket team.
Notably, as per the report from Cricbuzz, Ishan Kishan has agreed to play for his state in domestic cricket next season, notifying his availability to the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA). He has found himself a place in the 25-pre-season probable announced by JSCA, and there is possibility of him taking over the leadership role for Jharkhand as well.
The decision of Ishan Kishan to make himself available for domestic cricket happened after his well-wishers and the national selectors reportedly advised him for it. He was told about missing out on playing international cricket in the prime years of his career.
Moreover, after BCCI and the national selectors instructed all its cricketers to play domestic cricket last season, Ishan Kishan refused to turn up for Jharkhand. After opting for a break from cricket over mental fatigue at the turn of last year, the 26-year-old opted to prepare for the IPL at an academy in Baroda instead.
It has also been reported that Ishan Kishan was frustrated about being overlooked by the Indian team management in favour of KL Rahul, a part-time wicketkeeper, last year when he played for international cricket.
