With Indian cricket team currently taking on England in a highly-anticipated five-match Test series, the Indian domestic circuit is also set to begin with the Duleep Trophy. The tournament will commence from August 28 in Bengaluru, and as the days get near, teams have started to announce their squads.
On Saturday, August 2, the East Zone also announced its squad for the upcoming tournament. In a notable move, star India wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan, who was marred with a massive controversy until last year, will be seen leading the side. Ishan recently featured in the county cricket tournament with Notinghamshire.
Mohammed Shami set to return; Vaibhav Suryavanshi named in standby list
Ishan Kishan will be joined by Bengal opener Abhimanyu Easwaran, who has been named the deputy of the side. In another notable instance, Indian pacer Mohammed Shami will return to the domestic red-ball cricket, marking his return for the first time in over a year. He will be joined by the likes of Mukesh Kumar and Akash Deep, both of whom have played Test cricket for India.
Apart from them, the squad also features promising young talent, including Riyan Parag, left-arm spinner Manishi, Virat Singh and Sharandeep Singh. Apart from the 15-member squad, they have also named six standby players which also has Rajasthan Royals (RR) find, Vaibhav Suryavanshi.
