The Australian cricket team clinched the three-match Test series after defeating the West Indies with a clean sweep of 3-0. The Australians showcased extraordinary dominance with their performance throughout the Test series, especially with the ball. However, there were concerns about the batting performance of both the teams throughout the Tests. Neither team was able to register a total of 300 in the entire series in an innings with the bat. The pink ball seemed to be very destructive for batters, and for the bowlers it was something like a dream in the third Test at the Sabina Park in Jamaica in the day-night contest.

Pointing out to the bowler-friendly conditions in the Caribbean for the Frank-Worrell Trophy, Australian head coach Andrew McDonald stated his opinion on the final Test saying, “It didn’t even look like cricket.” The coach further stated that It’s really difficult to make accurate judgments on both batting units based upon the surfaces that we played on. He also questioned the use of Dukes ball and said that it seemed to be unplayable, the game seemed to be moving a bit too fast.

This judgment came after the West Indies were all out for 27 runs in the fourth innings of the third Test, which is the second-lowest score in Test history, which helped Australia to win the contest by 176 runs.

The surfaces in the Carribbean were surprising, stated Andrew McDonald

Even though the Australians clinched the series 3-0, their head coach was concerned about their batting performance on the surfaces. Andrew McDonald was surprised by his top-order not being able to put a large score on the scoreboard, and he was stunned by the early dismissals of his top-order batters.

He thought that the games would go much deeper than it did throughout the Test series, feeling surprised by the constant help available to the pacers from the pitches in all the matches. The Australian cricket team will now be shifting their focus onto the five-match T20I series and will be hoping to get the same results as the Test-series.
