Former Indian cricketer and BCCI President Sourav Ganguly heavily supported breaking all ties with Pakistan after the tragic incident of terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir. The nation is mourning the loss of 26 innocent people who lost their lives in the attack on April 22. This has also triggered the Indian government to take several strict action against the neighbouring country including shutting down the Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Attari, suspending the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme for Pakistan nationals.
Between all this, Sourav Ganguly also suggested breaking all cricketing ties with Pakistan and mentioned that ‘terrorism should not be tolerated.’ "100 percent, this (breaking ties with Pakistan) should be done. Strict action is necessary. It is no joke that such things happen every year. Terrorism cannot be tolerated,” Ganguly said.

India and Pakistan not played a bilateral series since 2012-13
India and Pakistan haven’t played a bilateral series with each other since 2012-13 but often face each other in the ICC tournaments and the Asia Cup. The political tensions between both the countries have restricted them to play bilateral cricket together. India also haven’t travelled to Pakistan since 2008.
Notably, India also refused to travel to Pakistan for the 2023 Asia Cup and the 2025 Champions Trophy and played their matches at neutral venues. Meanwhile, Pakistan did travel to India for the T20 World Cup in 2016 and the ODI World Cup in 2023. Now, ICC has adopted a hybrid model for all the upcoming tournaments till 2027. Pakistan will also not travel to India for the T20 World Cup in 2026.
