With tensions escalation between India and Pakistan after the recent terror attacks in Pahalgam last month, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is currently assessing the situation with the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) also underway in the subcontinent. In recent turn of events, the cash-rich league saw match number 58, which was scheduled to be played between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association in Dharamsala get abandoned due to significant reasons.

While the IPL authorities reported it to be a significant technical glitch, a few reported that due to the escalating tensions in the northern part of India, the match was called off as even the spectators were evacuated from the venue. While several have reported that Thursday’s match was called off following air raid alerts in nearby cities of Jammu and Pathankot.

With doubts casting over the remainder of the tournament, the IPL Chairman said, as reported by PTI, "We are reviewing the situation right now. It is an evolving situation. We haven't received any directive from the government. Obviously the decision will be taken keeping all the logistics in mind.”

When inquired about the upcoming game, where Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Lucknow, Arun Dhumal added, "Yes it is on as of now but obviously it is an evolving situation and any decision will be taken keeping the best interest of all stakeholders in mind." It is to be noted that both the teams are already in Lucknow for the upcoming clash, whereas the two teams, PBKS and DC are set to be transported to Delhi via a special train, following the abandonment.
