Sunil Gavaskar, the Indian cricketing legend, has predicted that the upcoming IPL 2024 Eliminator between Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru will be a one-sided contest. The 74-year-old stated that RCB will walk all over RR during the IPL playoff game at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, on the basis of the current form of both teams.

In the recent weeks, Rajasthan Royals have failed to win any of their five matches in the IPL 2024, while Royal Challengers Bengaluru won six matches in a row to make the playoffs in a remarkable turn of events. The contrasting run of results for both the teams point to an easy win for RCB against RR in the Eliminator, and Sunil Gavaskar isn’t shying away from mentioning it on air.

The former Indian captain said to Star Sports, as per NDTV Sports, “Rajasthan, they have lost four-five matches. They have not played their last game as well. They have been out of practice. Unless they do something special that KKR did today, despite not playing for 11 days, it could well turn out be another one-sided game tomorrow. My fear is it will be another one-sided game tomorrow, where the RCB will walk all over RR. I will be surprised if that does not happen.”

Apart from speaking about the potential outcome of the IPL 2024 Eliminator, Sunil Gavaskar also credited Royal Challengers Bengaluru for their great turnaround in the latter half of the league season. He said, “What RCB has done is nothing short of phenomenal. Firstly, to believe that they can bounce back. That requires something special. You have to say that their leading players Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli, their senior players, they are the guys who are most encouraging the other players.”

Notably, these two teams played in an IPL playoff match against each other the last time two years ago. On that big occasion, Rajasthan Royals had prevailed over Royal Challengers Bengaluru in a one-sided contest by seven wickets in the IPL 2022 Qualifier 2.

Moreover, RCB last won an IPL Eliminator against RR in the 2015 season, getting the better of them by 79 runs at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune.
