Indian batter Shreyas Iyer recently showed his frustration for people who give unsolicited advice on his batting. Notably, Iyer isn’t at his best whenever he faces short-pitched deliveries and struggles to time the ball. The newly appointed skipper of Punjab Kings said that he doesn’t like to take advice from people who haven’t ‘150 kmph delivery.’ Iyer will be seen in action again in the upcoming Champions Trophy.

“It’s irritating, especially when it comes from people, who haven’t faced 150 km per hour delivery, advising you to play in a particular way," Shreyas Iyer was quoted as saying by News18. Speaking further Iyer also said that everyone has a right to give opinions and also showed his respect for that. “But I would say it is their opinion. They have all the right to talk, but they can talk between themselves, not to the player directly, Iyer said.

I have seen a lot of videos on YouTube: Shreyas Iyer reveals how he works on improving his game again short-pitched deliveries

Shreyas Iyer has recently been appointed as skipper of Punjab Kings for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2025. The 2024 IPL winning captain was picked by the franchise for a whopping ₹26.75 in the mega auction. Speaking further, Iyer also said that he has also been watching tutorial videos on YouTube for improving his game against the short-pitched deliveries.

“Yes, I have seen a lot of videos on YouTube on how you basically get the shoulder and hip separation. That has helped me a lot in terms of power hitting. It plays a vital role, especially in T20s where you switch your gears and try to accelerate at any given point," Shreyas Iyer said.

“During the auction, we were in Hyderabad, watching it from our rooms and I was expecting a good amount. But I never thought that I would exceed a point and there would be so much competition between two teams over me. Overall, I was thrilled. After a certain point, I shut the door, went into the washroom and I was like, I don’t want to listen to what’s happening," he further said.
