In his latest interview, the Australian all-round cricketer, Glenn Maxwell, spoke about the rapid rise of the Lucknow Super Giants’ fast bowler Mayank Yadav in the IPL this season. The 35-year-old compared the young Indian speedster with the former Australian pacer, Shaun Tait, after stating that he has a “beautiful smooth action.”

Glenn Maxwell came face-to-face with Mayank Yadav during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s recent clash against Lucknow Super Giants, wherein the pacer dismissed him without troubling the scorers. The second ball of Maxwell’s innings was a fierce short delivery from Yadav, which skidded on a bit faster than he thought, only for him to spoon it up in the air, finding the fielder at short mid-wicket.

It’s such a beautiful smooth action: Glenn Maxwell on Mayank Yadav

While speaking on the Around the Wicket podcast of ESPN, Glenn Maxwell was all praises for Mayank Yadav and said the following about his batting style. “It's such a beautiful smooth action. He sort of glided through the crease really nicely.”

Following this, he likened the pace of Mayank Yadav to Shaun Tait and remarked, “I think pace-wise, the only one that I can sort of really resemble it to is a little bit like Shaun Tait when he was in his heyday. I think when he was at the peak of his powers it was extremely hard to pick up the extra zip it feels like it has off the wicket. I think that's as close as it probably comes to it.”

Notably, Mayank Yadav became the fastest Indian bowler in the history of the IPL, clocking 156.7 kmph speed. He has also picked up two consecutive Player of the Match awards, helping the Lucknow Super Giants win against PBKS and RCB.

Moreover, Glenn Maxwell will be playing his next IPL match for Royal Challengers Bengaluru against Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
