The Indian Premier League is best known for allowing young talent to play on a global platform. The tournament has given several stars to international cricket in the past editions, a name that has been shining since the beginning of the latest edition is the Rajasthan Royals’ 21-year-old star Yashasvi Jaiswal. The UP-born cricketer has helped Rajasthan win many of their games in the IPL 2023, and scripted history in RR’s last game against Kolkata Knight Riders. The young batter scored the fastest fifty in the IPL history off just 13 balls. However, to reach where he is right now, the young cricketer came across several huddles, and his journey is nothing but inspiring. After he achieved this feat, his roommate recalled his struggling days and said how he fulfilled a promise he made to him a few years ago.
Jaiswal’s roommate, Mudassir, recalled an incident and said that during his struggling days, both of them climbed a tree to watch a match between the Punjab Kings (earlier Kings XI Punjab) and Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium. During that time, Jaiswal promised Mudassir and told him that he will ensure that he enjoys a game at the stadium itself. Mudassir said, “Woh us time bolta tha ki Mudassir bhai, aaj hum is tareeke se dekh rahe hain, kal ko hum aapko udhar baithake dikhayenge.” He further said how Yashasvi kept his word and Mudassir enjoyed a few games at the stadium.

It goes without saying that Jaiswal is one fine example of how hard work always pays off. Jaiswal was 17 when he got selected to play for Mumbai cricket team, and then went on to become the youngest player to score a ton in Ranji trophy. He was bought by Rajasthan Royals in 2020 at a staggering price of INR 2.40 Crore.
