With the T20 World Cup 2024 fast approaching, Australia are looking to take two travelling reserves along with their 15-member squad. They are looking to take Jake Fraser-McGurk and Matthew Short as their 16th and 17th squad member for the marquee event, set to be played in the United States of America and the Caribbean.

With Cricket Australia confirming their 15-member squad earlier at the start of the month, their chair of selectors George Bailey has suggested that they would take one reserve to the Caribbean. But just days ahead of the tournament, they seem to go with two options in Jake Fraser-McGurk and Matt Short, according to ESPNcricinfo.

While Fraser-McGurk was one of the notable misses in the T20 World Cup squad, causing a stir with his form in the IPL for Delhi Capitals, he is likely to be called as an injury reserve to the top three batters in David Warner, Travis Head and captain Mitchell Marsh. Speaking of Matt Short, he has featured in nine of 14 T20Is for Australia. Short also bowls part time off spin.

Australia’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad:

Mitchell Marsh (C), Ashton Agar, Pat Cummins, Tim David, Nathan Ellis, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Wade, David Warner, Adam Zampa.
