James Anderson, the England legend, failed to get a deal during The Hundred 2025 draft, which was held last night ahead of the new season for both the men’s and women’s competition. Michael Bracewell of New Zealand and Noor Ahmad of Afghanistan earned themselves the biggest deals of £200,000 among overseas players, while Jamie Overton and David Willey were the big winners as far as England cricketers were concerned with the aforementioned contract price.
Notably, the main reason in regards to James Anderson getting overlooked in The Hundred 2025 draft has to be the non-involvement of him in any professional T20 match for more than a decade. However, the 42-year-old is set to play England’s domestic competition called the T20 Blast after signing a one-year contract with Lancashire for the upcoming 2025 season.
James Anderson could still play in The Hundred 2025 season if he is selected as a wildcard pick
Although, it is important to note that James Anderson, who went into the draft without a reserve price, could still play in The Hundred 2025 season if he is selected as a wildcard pick. As far as the £200,000 contract holders are concerned, Noor Ahmad, Michael Bracewell, Jamie Overton, and David Willey are set to play for Manchester Originals, Southern Brave, London Spirit, and Trent Rockets respectively.
Rachin Ravindra, the rising star from New Zealand, has been picked up by Manchester Originals for £120,000, while London Spirit were able to land Australian legend David Warner for an aforementioned contract price as well. Rocky Flintoff, 16, the son of Andrew Flintoff, who coaches Northern Superchargers in The Hundred and England Lions, went undrafted.
Moreover, the 2025 season of The Hundred is set to begin on August 5 with eight teams vying for the coveted trophy in the men’s and women’s competitions.
