England striker Jamie Vardy could be headed to Wrexham, a League One club, owned by Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, on a free transfer after leaving Leicester City in the summer. The 38-year-old confirmed his intention to walk away from a club where he won the coveted Premier League title a few years ago against all odds, and if Wrexham manage to get promoted to the Championship, the second division of English football, he just might end up joining them this summer.

Notably, during his 13-year tenure at Leicester City, which began in 2012 after he was signed from Fleetwood Town for just £1 million, Jamie Vardy created a lasting legacy. Hailed by Leicester City as their “greatest-ever player” while confirming Jamie Vardy’s departure from the club, he went on to not only win the Premier League with them, but also the FA Cup, and the Championship on two occasions as well while scoring 198 goals and provided 69 assists in 496 matches in all competitions.

Jamie Vardy has been linked with clubs in Saudi Arabia and the USA

But now, with Leicester City set to get relegated from the Premier League at the conclusion of the ongoing 2024-25 season, Jamie Vardy decided to not renew his contract with them, which will run out in the summer. Shortly after, Alex Crook, the chief football correspondent of talkSPORT remarked, “Someone suggested to me this morning that if Wrexham get promoted they are going to make another TV show – don't rule out Jamie Vardy going there.”

While Jamie Vardy has been linked with clubs from Saudi Pro League and Major League Soccer, he might want to stay in the United Kingdom and finish his professional career, and if that’s the case, then Wrexham can be quite a good option for him. The football club based in Wales is currently in second place in League One standings with two matches remaining in the regular season.

With that, two decent performances could secure them an automatic promotion to the Championship alongside Birmingham City, who are already 16 points ahead of them currently.
