After drawing the five-match Test series against England for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy earlier this month, the next major cricketing assignment from the Men in Blue is the Asia Cup. The continental tournament, which will be played in the T20 format this year, will be held from September 9 to 28 at the UAE.

While the Indian cricket team will enter the tournament as the defending champions, they have received massive boost ahead of the marquee tournament. With several reports claiming that Suryakumar Yadav has passed the fitness test after completing his rehabilitation following the sports hernia surgery, which he had undergone in June in Germany, the side is also set to receive the services of star pacer Jasprit Bumrah.

Jasprit Bumrah informs selectors of his availability for Asia Cup 2025: Reports

According to reports quoting The Indian Express, it is understood that Bumrah has confirmed his availability for the marquee tournament. This comes after the 31-year-old played only three Tests in the recently-concluded series and was left out despite being fit for the final Test at The Oval, raising eyebrows over workload management theory.

“Bumrah has informed the selectors that he will be available for the Asia Cup selection. The selection committee will meet and discuss it when they meet next week,” a source close to the development was quoted as saying. It is to be noted that Bumrah hasn’t played a white-ball game for close to a year now. His last outing in the limited-overs format came in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados.

Furthermore, speaking of Team India, the side have been placed in Group A alongside Pakistan, Oman and the UAE. The Men in Blue will kickstart their Asia Cup 2025 campaign on September 10 in a match against UAE, followed by a highly-anticipated clash against Pakistan, scheduled for September 14.
