20 minutes past 11 at night in India, the fans received a shocking news. Just when everyone was about to go off to sleep, the news hit the screen - "Jasprit Bumrah set to miss Champions Trophy 2025". The Indian speedster is set to miss the second ICC tournament after 2022 T20 World Cup. India's bowling attack now looks fairly weak with Mohammad Shami just coming back to his prime best, Mohammad Siraj being sidelines from the squad, and now Jasprit Bumrah missing the Champions Trophy because of back injury.
Earlier, it was expected that Jasprit Bumrah will make a return ahead of the ICC tournament. However, it has been confirmed today evening that Jasprit Bumrah will be missing flight to Dubai due to injury. The scans do not show anything serious. However, the NCA has suggested that Bumrah will take a few more weeks before he can start to bowl again. It looks unlikely whether Bumrah will be available from match 1 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as well.
With Jasprit Bumrah being unavaialble, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have asked Harshit Rana to join the squad.
India’s squad for ICC Champions Trophy, 2025: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill (Vice-captain), Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (WK), Rishabh Pant (WK), Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Harshit Rana, Mohd.
