After leading Saurashtra to win the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022, pacer Jaydev Unadkat received his first call up in the Indian Test squad after 12 years. However, the 31-year-old pacer's comeback for his country in Tests has been delayed as Unadkat is  still stuck in India.

Jaydev Unadkat picked a total of 19 wickets in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022 to become the leading wicket-taker in the tournament and helped his side to win the competition for the second time after 2007.

After leading Saurashtra to their second Vijay Hazare Trophy, Unadkat was named in the Indian squad for the two-match Test series against Bangladesh, starting from Wednesday, December 14. However, the pacer is set to miss the first Test against the Tigers after not receiving his visa papers and  is believed to be still at home in Rajkot.

Initially, the visas of probable players for selection are arranged by the  Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) before an upcoming series to avoid logistical issue. But, Unadkat was a surprise selection in the Indian Test squad following his tremendous performance for Saurashtra in the recently-concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy.

The left-arm pacer, who played for Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2022, last played an international Test match in 2010 and his absence in the Indian squad could possibly make way for Navdeep Saini. Reportedly, left-arm spinner  Saurabh Kumar and chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav can also replace Unadkat in the Indian squad for the 1st Test match against Bangladesh.
