Liverpool have reportedly secured their first signing of the 2025-2026 season with Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong set to join the Premier League club soon. The 24-year-old right-back has been on the transfer targets for many top clubs across Europe since last season and a move between him and the Reds has finally materialized. The move comes after Liverpool confirming the departure of first-choice right-back Trent Alexander Arnold at the end of the season, as the Englishmen is ready to move to Spain and join Real Madrid.
Frimpong has been brought in place of Trent and will have a lot of expectations hurled upon him especially after Liverpool’s heroics this season under new manager Arne Slot. Frimpong has played exceptionally well under Xabi Alonso at Leverkusen and is an attacking-minded full-back, who likes to dominate his flank by engaging with opponents high up the pitch. His attacking nature is re-emphasized with his numbers this season, as the Dutch defender has 12 assists across all competitions. Liverpool is said to have triggered Frimpong’s 35 million euros release clause as he was tied to Leverkusen with a long contract running until 2028.
Conor Bradley sign new contract with Liverpool FC
The player is expected to soon land in Liverpool for his medical, before the club confirms his transfer officially. The agreed deal is said to be for 5 years, running until 2030, displaying Liverpool’s desire for Frimpong to be part of their long-term project. Another name which Liverpool has tied down in the right-back department is youngster Conor Bradley. The 21-year-old has been performing really well in the limited opportunities he has received and Slot wants him to be the backup option for Frimpong, boosting Liverpool’s squad depth.
Bradley signed a new contract on May 17, extending his commitment to the clung for at least 6 more years. He was delighted to be a part of Liverpool’s project and reflected upon the same by saying, “To sign another contract, I’m very proud and happy to see what the next steps on our journey together will be.” When asked about what his ambitions were with the club, Bradley replied, “To play even more games but also to win more trophies.”
