Australian pacer Jhye Richardson will feature in the second Test match of the ongoing five-match Ashes series, confirmed Australia captain Pat Cummins as he announced the playing XI on the eve of the pink-ball Test. Richardson has got the nod ahead of fellow seam bowler Michael Neser and will replace first-choice bowler Josh Hazlewood who has been sidelined due to a side strain.

In addition, Cummins also opened up that opener David Warner will be alright for the second Test and will play in Adelaide where the hosts will go 1-0 up after a 9-wicket victory over England in the series opener. Meanwhile, Richardson returns to the Test match XI three years after he first announced his arrival in Test cricket.

Despite discomfort, Warner is not going to miss this Test: Cummins

"He'll (Warner) be right," Cummins told reporters as quoted on Cricket Australia's official website.

"He had a bat yesterday, batted with a bit of discomfort but knowing Davey, he's not going to miss this one. Once adrenaline and everything kicks in, (he'll be) a little bit sore but he'll be fine," he added.

"It's one thing batting in the nets but another thing when you walk out and it's a packed crowd. I don't think he had any kind of painkillers or anything yesterday," he further said.

"He's played close to 90 Tests, I'm sure a lot of them have been played in discomfort or with (niggles) going into the game. He'll be fine tomorrow," he stated.

It is still not clear though whether Warner will participate in the pre-match training session on Wednesday. This is because he is still suffering from sore ribs after he had been struck by a Ben Stokes short-pitch delivery in the first Test in Brisbane last week.

The 35-year-old did practice for a short duration on Tuesday but was visibly in pain especially while playing the balls angling towards his chest.
