Witnessing the opening session of the third day’s play, it can be said England are in a dominating position as they are heading towards India’s total of 358. In the first session, both Joe Root and Pope added 107 runs to England’s scorecard.
Following the first session, England are 332/2 in 74 overs, with Pope (unbeaten 70 off 123) and Root (unbeaten 63 off 115) at the crease. Team India will have to break this partnership in the second session to contain the home team from taking a heavy lead.
