Brazilian footballer and Arsenal veteran, Jorginho has finally said "yes" to join his home country's club, Flamengo after his contract with Arsenal comes to an end this June. The star footballer, who is currently resting due to punctured lungs, will be signing off from the club this summer. As per the reports, his new contract will run until 2028. Last May, Jorginho signed an 18-month contract. During this period, he made 78 appearances for the respective club and further made nine appearances for the Premier League side under Mikel Arteta in 2024-25.
According to Italian sports journalist Fabrizio Romano, the 33-year-old footballer has verbally agreed to sign a three-year contract with Flamengo. Now that Jorginho has given his verbal consent to his home country club, Arsenal won't be considering extending his contract further. The player will now embrace his final few weeks with Arsenal before spending the rest of his career with the home club.

The 33-year-old began his career as a senior footballer for Hellas Verona before heading to Napoli in 2014, and then moving to Chelsea in 2018. In his overall career, the Brazilian footballer has won 57 caps for Italy. Besides, he played a critical role by winning the Champions League with Chelsea in 2020-21. This win helped him to stand behind legends Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski in the 2021 Ballon d'Or voting.
Jorginho has been a pillar for clubs he played for before and is known for skillful ball passing. Since Flamengo will play against Chelsea in the summer Club World Cup group, it will be exciting to see Jorginho playing against his previous team.
