Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp has finally opened up on what has gone wrong for the reigning champions this season. The Reds, who have lost five of their last six matches in Premier League, currently trail league-leaders Manchester City by 22 points. The title-defence is completely out of the equation as Liverpool’s focus would now be to secure a Top 4 spot this season. The 53-year-old spoke about Liverpool’s problems in an exclusive interview with Sky Sports.

Injuries have jolted Liverpool’s title-defense, claims Klopp

The German Manager, who guided Liverpool to a famous league win after 30 years last season, pointed out the fact that injuries have had a huge impact on their current campaign.

The Reds certainly have had a long list of injuries this season, including key players like Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez to name a few. Recently, skipper Jordan Henderson has also joined the long list of absentees for Liverpool.

Reflecting on the injuries, Klopp said, “Most of the problems are as a result of the injury situation. This year we have faced completely new problems. I have never in my life - and I have been doing the job for 20 years - had to change the last line every week.”

The 53-year-old assures Liverpool is ‘a complete unit’

Despite of a difficult campaign, Jurgen Klopp revealed that there are no internal problems within the club. He claimed that the club is working together and there are no problems within the team. Instead, Klopp added that they want to deal with the failures and find a way out to turnaround their season.

Reflecting on Liverpool’s team environment, Klopp said, “The togetherness is outstanding in the club internally. We are not angry with each other and pointing the finger at each other saying that it is because of you or it is because of you. That is not the case. We are a complete unit, really. One hundred per cent.”

While Alisson and Fabinho returned for their crucial clash against Chelsea, it wasn't enough as Liverpool lost their fifth consecutive game at home. After the 1-0 loss against the Blues, Liverpool stay at 7th position in the PL Table with 43 points.
