The rising number of cases inside the bio-bubble forced the BCCI to suspend the IPL 2021 midway. But it seems the trouble is far from over for the Indian board. After Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier, another KKR player has now been tested positive for COVID-19.

Tim Seifert tests positive for COVID-19

New Zealand batsman Tim Seifert, who was part of the Kolkata Knight Riders squad for the IPL 2021 season, has been tested positive for Covid-19, as per a statement released by New Zealand Cricket. The wicketkeeper-batsman missed his charter flight back to New Zealand with all the other members of the New Zealand contingent as both his tests came out positive.

Seifert to be treated in Chennai

Tim Seifert is currently in Ahmedabad and will stay in isolation as he awaits transfer to Chennai, where he will be treated at a private hospital. His symptoms are reportedly moderate.

"Once Seifert has undergone treatment and the statutory period of isolation and has tested negative for Covid-19, he will be transferred back to New Zealand where he will undergo the mandatory 14-day period of managed isolation," the statement said.

"It's really unfortunate for Tim and we'll do everything for him that we can from this end, and hopefully he will be able to test negative, and be cleared and approved for discharge as soon as he's well again," David White, NZC chief executive, said.
