Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku continues to be involved in one of the most complicated transfer roundabouts of the summer window as Juventus fans make their discontent with their club’s decision to make a move for the Belgian international clear. Lukaku, who is currently with Chelsea, is linked with a move to the Old Lady of Turin in a swap deal which would potentially see Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic move to Stamford Bridge. Lukaku’s stock is on a downward trajectory, and Chelsea is willing to sell him for even a modest fee, though he is seemingly unwelcome at most top clubs in Serie A.

This isn’t the first time Juventus fans have opposed Lukaku. Following an intra-squad friendly game played at Juventus’s Allianz stadium, fans stormed the pitch to express displeasure with the deal. Lukaku has not had the best of times in Italy during his loan move to Inter last season where his stock value further plummeted. Juventus fans are not happy with their club’s decision to bring in a striker who has proved to be inconsistent at best, for what would likely be massive wages.
For most of last season, it appeared that Lukaku would be moving to Inter Milan permanently this summer. The striker first joined Inter from Manchester United in 2019 and recorded some of his best seasons in professional football. He scored 47 times in 72 games and helped Inter lift their first Serie A title in a decade. This was followed by a mammoth GBP 100 million move to Chelsea, where the striker didn’t find any footing. Things were not helped when he published an interview mid-season at Chelsea, explaining that he missed Inter Milan and expressing regret at joining the London club.
He was shipped off to Inter Milan the next season on loan, where he failed to light up the Serie A as he had in his first stint. To make matters worse, the forward fell out with the Inter Milan board and fans after secretly agreeing personal terms with Juventus and refusing to answer calls from Inter during the summer window.
