The FIFA World Cup 2022 is 74 days away and J uventus head coach Massimiliano Allegri has given an update on the injury status of star midfielder and 2018 World Cup winner from France Paul Pogba. Allegri has claimed that after sustaining an injury in the training it was decided that Pogba will undergo surgery.

Paul Pogba travelled back to Juventus this summer from Manchester United and sustained an injury in the right knee in July before damaging his meniscus in Juventus training on Tuesday morning. Multiple reports suggest that it will take 40-60 days to completely recover after his knee surgery.

Juventus are placed in Group H in UCL 2022-23 alongside Paris Saint-Germain, Benfica, and  Maccabi Haifa. Juventus faced a 2-1 defeat against PSG in their UCL opener on Tuesday at the  Parc des Princes. Ahead of Tuesday's game, Allegri told reporters that Pogba will not be available to play for Juventus until January.

"This morning he trained for the second time but then stopped and it was then decided that he undergo surgery. We will realistically get him back in January.  The World Cup is not my problem, Juventus' problem is that he comes back in January,"  Allegri told reporters.

Paul Pogba played a big role in France's FIFA World Cup 2018 final 4-2 victory against Croatia as he scored a goal in the 59th minute.
