Kane Williamson was bought by Karachi Kings ahead of the upcoming season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in 2025 in the supplementary round after going unsold in the initial draft. However, the New Zealand batter will miss the first five matches of the season as the news has been confirmed by the franchise owner Salam Iqbal himself. Notably, former Australian cricketer David Warner will lead Karachi Kings in the upcoming season.
Kane Williamson is currently serving as a commentator in the ongoing IPL 2025. Due to this, many fans are speculating that he is missing the PSL due to his commitments in the Indian T20 league, there are also reports that he is unavailable because of the quad strain that he sustained in the final of the Champions Trophy in Dubai last month. However, the official reason isn’t out for Williamson’s absence from the PSL.
Kane Williamson likely to be available for Karachi Kings’ clash against Quetta Gladiators
Kane Williamson will miss the first five games for Karachi Kings in PSL 2025. The tournament will kickstart with a match between the defending champions Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on April 11. Meanwhile, Karahi Kings will begin their campaign with a match against Multan Sultan at National Stadium in Karachi on April 12.
Karachi Kings’ sixth match of the season will be against Quetta Gladiators at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on April 25. This means that Kane Williamson could be seen playing in the match against the Gladiators in Lahore. He will be seen playing with David Warner with whom he has also played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL.
