After getting a India call-up once again after seven-long years, star Indian batter Karun Nair is all set to return to his state team Karnataka for the upcoming domestic season. Nair, who was speculated to make this move alongside Jitesh Sharma from Vidarbha, has finally been inducted into the Karnataka Cricket State Association (KSCA).
However, an official statement from the state board is still awaited, but it is more or less confirmed after he was re-signed by the squad. It is to be noted that Nair was initially dropped from his home side in 2022, following which, he spent two seasons with Vidarbha. But after the conclusion of IPL 2025, reports revealed that he has asked for a NOCs to make his move to his state team, citing personal reasons.
Karun Nair re-signs with Karnataka ahead of 2025-26 domestic season
It is to be noted, during his two-year tenure at Vidarbha, where he played in 2023 and 2024, Nair scored 863 runs in Ranji Trophy and 779 in Vijay Hazare. Although, he is currently with the Indian cricket team in England for the five-match Test series, he has had an outing to remember thus far.
Apart from Karun Nair’s move, Vasuki Koushik, a 32-year-old pacer from Karnataka has made a move to Goa. The right-arm medium pacer was signed by Goa Cricket Association after he secured a NOC from the KSCA. Later, Goa Cricket Association (GCA) Secretary, Shambha Desai confirmed his signing, writing, “We have signed Koushik. So far, that is the only confirmed transfer. We are exploring a few other options, but no names have been finalised yet.”
